My Bookstore Night at Franklin Park

11/15/2012 7:30 pm
America/New York

Featuring readings by contributors Carmela Ciuraru, Matt Weiland, and Emily St. John Mandel; Free beer with pre-purchase of the book!

In the new anthology My Bookstore, 84 well-known writers write about the delight, comfort, and support that bookstores and booksellers have given them. It’s a joyful celebration of the enormous diversity of bricks-and-mortar, independent bookstores across the country, and the common pleasures that authors and readers find there. To mark the book’s launch, three Brooklyn bookstores featured in the book – Community Bookstore (Park Slope), Greenlight Bookstore (Fort Greene), and WORD (Greenpoint) have joined forces for a reading and celebration! The event will take place at one of our favorite non-bookstore literary venues, Franklin Park (Prospect Heights), a bar famous for its own reading series. Contributors Carmela Ciuraru, Matt Weiland, and Emily St. John Mandel will read from their essays about their own bookstore experiences, while attendees enjoy drinks and the camaraderie of fellow bookstore lovers.

Customers can pre-purchase the book from any of the three participating bookstores and pick up the book at Franklin Park on the night of the event; each pre-purchased book comes with a voucher for a free beer! Join us to celebrate bookstores in Brooklyn and nationwide.
