America/New York
In the first of a new ongoing series, Vol. 1 Brooklyn presents Civic Pride, featuring published authors from a particular region, beginning with Chicago. Representing the Windy City will be: Adam Levin, whose new 1030 page book, The Instructions, has been called a "vital work" by Tablet Magazine, and an "epic" by Time Out Chicago; Jami Attenberg, a Chicago native who lives in Brooklyn and author of three books, including The Melting Season, which was praised by newspapers, magazines and blogs such as the New York Times, Oprah, and The Rumpus; and Molly Tolsky, who works for Kveller.com, a Jewish
parenting website (and yet, she has no children!) where she authors the
only Jewish celebrity baby gossip blog currently on the internet.
Each reader will read for ten minutes, and then participate in a conversation with Vol. 1 editors. Free beer will be provided by Goose Island Brewery. (Yep, free beer!) Facebook RSVP here.
